Larger potted plants:
Take a 20-24 oz plastic drink bottle
Keep the lid on
Poke holes in the neck of the bottle
Cut bottom off the bottle
Push down into the soil
Fill with water.
We used 3 24 oz bottles for a week. Not all of the bottles will leak out the water at one time. Actually when we came home ( we were gone a week) there was little over a half left in one bottle
Small potted plants ( like my African violets)
A wick ( like your use in kerosene lanterns you sit on the table in your house : NOT to be confused with the mantles used in Coleman style camping lanterns)
A container of water.
Bury the wick into the soil of the plant. Take the loose end and stick it into the container of water. Now your plants will take a drink when they need it !!
